Winners announced for British Independent Film Awards 2020

The winners of the 23rd edition of the British Independent Film Awards were announced today by actor Tom Felton (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows).

The winners across the nine film craft categories were announced on 25 January.

Sarah Gavron’s coming-of-age drama “Rocks” starring Bukky Bakray, Kosar Ali and D’angelou Osei Kissiedu, which had amassed 15 nominations, won five awards including the coveted Best British Independent Film, Best Supporting Actor for D’angelou Osei Kissiedu and Best Supporting Actress and Most Promising Newcomer for Kosar Ali, and Best Casting for Lucy Pardee.

Remi Weekes’ horror-thriller “His House”, which garnered 16 nominations, won four awards including Best Director, Best Actress for Wunmi Mosaku, Best Effects for Pedro Sabrosa and Stefano Pepin, and Best Production Design for Jacqueline Abrahams.

Psychological horror film “Saint Maud”, which received 17 nominations, won The Douglas Hickox Award (Debut Director) for Rose Glass and Best Cinematography for Ben Fordesman.

The Crown star Emma Corrin, Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa and Malcolm & Marie‘s Zendaya were among the special guests who appeared via video link to announce the winners.
