The Nun 2 dominates the worldwide box office for the second consecutive weekend

Horror sequel The Nun 2 led the global box office for the second successive weekend with $44.83 million, taking its tally to $158.82 million. Directed by Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do ItThe Curse of La Llorona), the horror film stars Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet and Bonnie Aarons, reprising their roles from the first film along with new cast members Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell. The film follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak (Bonnie Aarons), the demon nun. In North America, the fifth film in The Conjuring Universe franchise topped the weekend chart with $14.73 million for a domestic total of $56.52 million.

A Haunting in Venice grossed $37.2 million in its opening weekend ($14.5 million in North America). The mystery threequel, directed by Kenneth Branagh, stars himself as Belgian detective Hercule Poirot alongside an ensemble cast that includes Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio and Michelle Yeoh. In the film, set in the backdrop of post-World War II Venice, Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) attends a séance where one of the guests is murdered and he is forced to use his detective skills once again to uncover the killer.

Indian blockbuster Jawan, directed by Atlee, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, South Indian film industry stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi along with Deepika Padukone in an extended cameo grossed $17.71 million in its second weekend ($2.49 million in North America), registering a drop of 72% from its opening weekend, for a total of $101.3 million. The vigilante action-drama is the second Indian film to cross $100 million this year after January’s Pathaan that also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The third instalment of The Equalizer, directed by Antoine Fuqua, starring Denzel Washington grossed $15.53 million worldwide ($7.23 million in North America) in its third weekend. Also featuring Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo, the film follows Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), a retired US Marine agent living a quiet life in Boston, who returns to action to protect a teenage prostitute Teri aka Alina (Chloë Grace Moretz) from members of the Russian mafia. The Hollywood vigilante action-thriller has grossed $132.37 million at the worldwide box office so far ($73.67 million in North America).

Oppenheimer earned $12.87 million in its ninth weekend, taking its tally to $912.7 million. The R-rated film, directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Cillian Murphy in the titular role alongside Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh grossed 2.1 million in North America over the weekend, taking its domestic tally to $318.63 million.

Expend4bles grossed a disappointing $10.96M in its opening weekend following negative reviews from critics and audiences. The fourth instalment of the action series, directed by Scott Waugh, stars Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture reprising their roles from the previous films with 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran and Andy Garcí.

Chinese film Dust to Dust, directed by Jonathan Li, is the sixth highest-grossing film at the worldwide box office over the weekend with $10.69 million. The crime-thriller, starring Dong Chengpeng and Lam Ka Tung, is based on the true events of the 1995 armed banknote robbery case in China. The film has grossed $43.64 million so far.

Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling grossed $7.36 million in its ninth weekend for a worldwide gross of $1.41 billion. In North America, Barbie earned $3.96 million for a domestic total of $626.12 million.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding3 grossed $6.31 million in its second weekend ($4.7 million in North America) for a total gross of $23.88 million. The third instalment of the romantic comedy film is directed by Nia Vardalos and stars herself alongside John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone, Lainie Kazan, and Andrea Martin. The film is currently the lowest-grossing film in the franchise (the first instalment amassed $369M in 2002 and the sequel grossed $91 million in 2016).

Biographical sports drama Gran Turismo, directed by Neill Blomkamp, starring Archie Madekwe, David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, Emelia Hartford, Geri Halliwell Horner, Djimon Hounsou and Josha Stradowski grossed $5.85 million for a worldwide total of $102.92 million.
