Read the details about the films below:
Bad Influencer (working title): Directed by Ziyaad Desai for Minnow Films, Bad Influencer will explore the shocking rise and fall of popular Australian Wellness blogger Belle Gibson, one of Instagram’s first super-influencers. Gibson, 29, was accused making false claims of having had multiple cancers which were self-treated through her diet and alternative medicine and profiting from the deceit.
Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World (working title): The three-episode series follows teen environment activist Greta Thunberg as she seeks to raise awareness of the accelerating climate change and spread her message of drastically reducing our carbon emissions to save the world.
Our Family and Autism (working title): Directed by Lucy Wilcox (24 Hours in Police Custody), the film revolves around the Paddy and Christine McGuinness family sharing their experience on raising their young autistic children. The couple will meet with other parents of autistic children to see how their experiences differ and whether they can learn from them. They will also meet leading pediatricians and child-development experts to discover more about their children’s autism – and the condition in general.
Gambling: When Our Fun Stopped (working title): Directed by Candace Davies, the film will offer an insight into the lives of young men whose lives have been deeply affected by addiction to gambling, exploring their descent into addiction, the attempts they made to navigate and overcome it and the tactics employed by some gambling firms that make recovery so difficult.
Our International NHS: Produced and directed by Tim Kirby (The Unwanted – The Secret Windrush Files), the one hour special programme celebrates the immigrant workforce that has been the backbone of the NHS, from its inception 70 years ago to the current pandemic.
Football’s Darkest Secret: Helmed by BAFTA-winner Daniel Gordon (Hillsborough, The Australian Dream), Football’s Darkest Secret is a 3-part series that will examine abuse that has taken place in youth football all across the country, from Manchester to Newcastle and Crewe to Southampton.
